Happy Thursday, Y’all! I know a lot of Austinites are anticipating the opening of Tesla’s Gigafactory, which is expected to be in motion by early 2022, but Tesla did release a little sneak peek into the inside of the factory (I have the scoop on this below). I learned from the son of one of my clients working onsite that it takes 30 minutes to walk from one end of the factory to the other! It’s a pretty exciting development for Austin, and there’s been a major increase in home searches near the factory’s 78725 zip code. With more competition in this hot locale — there’s been a 45% increase in home prices in this area from 2020! If you know anyone interested in exploring this location, I’d be more than happy to assist.
While the 78725 zip code is buzzing, as is most of Austin, some other nearby cities are gaining some extra attraction as well. Cities like San Marcos, Buda and Taylor are some of the hottest spots in greater Austin's 11 submarkets over the last three months for renting, according to a new report by ApartmentData.com, and this is carrying into home purchases as well. These cities have good housing opportunities with more space and are still close to Austin. Sneak Peek Inside Tesla’s $1.1 Billion Austin Factory As It Nears Opening

With Tesla's announcement of moving its headquarters to Austin, there's been a lot of anticipation over its arrival. Although Tesla's official HQ location has not been revealed, Tesla did release some photos inside the new Tesla Austin Gigafactory.
"The photo above shows a sleek, futuristic-feeling office space inside the manufacturing plant. The space, which provides a view of the factory floor, features a predominately white color scheme, a minimalist design, an open layout, and rows of long tables that serve as shared workspaces," says CultureMap Austin in their latest coverage of Tesla's photo releases.

"The second photo above shows a quality control area where two partially built Model Y Teslas are perched on mechanical lifts. And the third photo below provides an aerial view of the enormous factory, which appears to be near completion. Tesla executives say vehicle production is set to begin by the end of this year."
“Gigafactory Texas is progressing as planned,” Tesla says. “We are in the process of commissioning equipment and fabricating our first pre-production vehicles.”
