Happy Tuesday, Y'all! After last Saturday's solstice, summer has officially begun. For those of you with a second home somewhere else, I imagine you'll be there soon if you're not there already. (And yes, I am jealous and want to come with you!)
Summer 2020 in Austin will inevitably look different than any other year, but there are plenty of safe ways to make the most of the summer months ahead of us. I am looking forward to finding new activities to enjoy this summer (like being a virtual tourist in Sicily) as well as learning how Austin's classic summer experiences (like Deep Eddy Pool - one of my personal favorites) can be modified to make social distancing possible. Here are some ideas I've come up with for my summer bucket list so far!

Explore Jester King Brewery
Take a short drive into the hill country south of Austin to explore Jester King Brewery! Jester King is open by reservation only, and has six outdoor green spaces to relax in including the Hop Yard, the Vineyard, and the Goat Pen! Whether or not you're a beer drinker, there are plenty of food and beverage options to enjoy as you explore the grounds.

Natural Swimming Holes
There are many natural swimming spots near Austin that make great day trips! The famous swimming hole Hamilton Pool is closed right now, but Jacob's Well is open by reservation, and Krause Springs is open at limited capacity. If you're looking for a shorter drive, Common's Ford is right in town and accessible with a day pass. See Austin Local's extensive list of swimming holes here for more ideas. Happy swimming!

While it may appear from the stats above that Austin's real estate market is still suffering from the impact of the pandemic, don't be fooled. This is data from the month of May and sales tend to lag 30-60 days. Pending sales are the indicator to watch. Right now, pending sales are UP to 1,952 and active listings are DOWN to 1,316. This explains why there are multiple offers on most listings and why the market is so hot this summer. We are having a delayed spring as we anticipated and I expect this strong seller's market to continue throughout the summer. It's still a great time to buy with 30-year fixed interest rates under 3%, and a better time than ever to be a seller! If you ever have a question or curiosity about the market, I'm here to help anytime! I consider it my job to help you stay informed when it comes to Austin real estate.

The Opening Central Texas for Business Task Force has debuted a campaign called “Austin, A City of Us.” The campaign encourages Austinites to present a united front in committing to wearing masks in order to protect one other from another spike in COVID-19 cases. They have also compiled helpful resources to help businesses adapt and function in a COVID-19 world. When we all do our part to protect one another, we can make real progress in containing this pandemic. You can read more about the campaign here.
