Happy Saturday, Y’all! A recent report came out sharing that average Austin rent prices have increased by nearly 10% over the past year. Renting certainly has some advantages, including no maintenance responsibilities, and for some seasons of life, renting can be a perfect choice! However, one of the many advantages to becoming a homeowner is that it can help you stabilize your housing costs — and each year, when rents go up, your mortgage payment will look better and better in comparison. Additionally, you will likely move less often, which saves you both the hard costs of moving and the less tangible costs, including the time and energy it takes away from other endeavors. Having just moved for the first time in almost a decade, I have been reminded of how much time and energy it takes!
People often express that they don't want to reach out to a Realtor until they are ready to buy because they don't want to waste anyone's time. But in my experience, many people think they can't buy when they actually can! I encourage you to reach out whether you feel like you are ready to buy this year or also if you are just curious about what you need to have in place for it to be possible so you can start planning.

Austin Rent Prices Increased Nearly 10 Percent From 2022, Report Finds
|
"Apartment rent keeps going up in Texas, and in Austin the increase is nearly 10 percent more than last year, making it increasingly difficult to afford living in the city. That’s according to a new national rent report from online rental marketplace Zumper.
Despite rent increases showing a small slowdown month-over-month, overall prices are still on the high side from the previous year. For example, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Austin is $2,070 now, in March of 2023, which is a one percent increase from the previous month, but a nearly 10 percent increase from 2022 at 8.4 percent.
The average rent for a one-bedroom is $1,670, which is a mere .60 percent increase month-over-month, but a whopping 7.7 percent increase from last year," says CultureMap Austin.
