Happy Friday, Y’all! I hope you are planning to enjoy the outdoors on this gorgeous weekend. We decided we wanted to do a last-minute, kid-free getaway to the Texas hill country for some hiking at Enchanted Rock. What we learned is that if you wanted to find a place to stay in the hill country or reserve a spot at a park in the middle of a pandemic, you better have reserved it weeks in advance! How fascinating! Makes sense, right?! We did finally find a spot, thankfully, and are looking forward to being active outdoors while we discuss our plans and intentions for 2021. It's this time of year that I'm usually settled with what I have accomplished in the current year, and I start looking forward to the next year. I don’t know about you, but the nature of goals and intentions have changed for me after living through this interesting year. Certainly, the ones involving travel and social interaction look different! Even though this pandemic has been rough in so many ways, it has also been a gift in even more ways. Is that showing up for you as well? I’d love to hear about what you’re creating for yourself, your family and your work in 2021. Let’s go have a coffee or a walk outdoors and chat! |
Austin Job Market
is Rising! |
Just like Austin's current real estate market, Austin's economy and job market are seeing a positive shift upwards after pandemic job losses in the area. In fact, according to the Austin Chamber Society, Austin is fairing very well in the job sector, putting itself as the top-performing city among the 50 largest metro areas! In the latest Central Texas Economy Report, Beverly Kerr mentions these recent and enlightening statistics for Austin: |
Austin added 4,300 jobs in September, narrowing pandemic-related job losses to 47,600. Austin’s 2.5% year-over-year job loss is more moderate than the declines seen in all other major metros.
Austin’s leisure and hospitality industry added jobs in three of the last five months.
Half of the 67,300 jobs lost in March and April have been regained.
After falling each of the preceding four months, Austin's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 5.3% in August to 6.7% in September.
